sobbie : I forget sometimes who is suposed to be the lead

Lizzy (vonmeermom): Favorite on-line story... hmm, it changes every couple of months or so but my favorite hard cover is "John Dollar"
sobbie : yes the pictures do help with keeping the characters organized
redbackredback: okay I will have to have a look at that I haven't heard of it ..... but I love to read so ....
Lizzy (vonmeermom): It was the first book I read in high school that had ALL of the female characters as leads - it showed me that there was life beyond being some nobleman's mistress or a starving mother

redbackredback: I know what you mean I hate it when all women are a the screamers for help in books or movies....
Lizzy (vonmeermom): It was written by Salman Rushdie's ex-wife, Marianne Wiggins - I'm not sure if it is still in print, it came out in the 80's - the best way to describe it is a female Lord of the Flies

Lizzy (vonmeermom): It was really liberating for a 9th grader to know that there was something beyond the Bronte sisters

sobbie : well the story is good once I was able to get past the style

savmut: hmm stage directions are okay. sometimes I think maybe there should be one or two lines extra, but nothing big.

savmut: ahhh, you're talking to someone who read's very very fast. I find most shapeters for any story too short.
sobbie : for me the chapter length is good... it is as much as I can handle before I get lost in the style

savmut: It work's You've never left my hanging somewhere where I'd like to tie you down and leave you in the sun, so the legnths are okay. Just don't do any really bad cliff hangers and we're fine.
Lizzy (vonmeermom): What bothers me is that sometime people spend an entire paragraph describing a tree - I don't have the time or the patience for that, what I try to convey with my writing is the sense that you are a fly on the wall observing these people for a few moments

sobbie : I understand that point too Lizzy. But you are also talking to someone who can not even read poetry. I see the style and it becomes a "blanK" for me
barron_chugg : I've been known to read scripts for fun, so I 'm a bad person to ask
sobbie : Now dont get me wrong. I actually like darkfin. It just took me a while to get past the style thing for me
sobbie : and I have been known to toss a script in the garbage just because it wasnt a form of reading I enjoy

sobbie : actually that is what happened for me... I decided to give something very different a try and found I enjoyed Darkfin
